gfdgfdgfdgfdg We are delighted to announce Coventry Refugee and Migrant Centre (CRMC) in partnership with Volunteer Action Coventry (VAC), Foleshill Women’s Training (FWT), Belgrade Theatre and Coventry City of Culture Trust have been awarded £1.89m funding from the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund (AMIF). After successfully carrying out a two-year AMIF project which has so far supported over 250 beneficiaries with integrating into the community.
In partnership with the organisations involved we will be working towards the ‘Integrate Coventry’ project.
The aim of the project is to help integrate refugees and other third country nationals to rebuild their lives in safety, becoming fully self-sufficient and establish themselves within the wider community in Coventry.
This will be achieved by providing them with accredited English language education, information, advice and guidance; individualised, one-to-one help to remove barriers to progression e.g. housing and benefits advice; self-development interventions; fun activities which help clients to make new friends with people outside of their communities; therapy; opportunities to visit new places and find out more about their new home; access to employment and volunteering; arts/cultural projects/activities and arts and cultural engagement opportunities which have the potential to deepen their relationship to and understanding of their city.
Coventry City Council has too been awarded AMIF funding and we are excited that collectively we bring a considerable amount of funding and support for beneficiaries into the city.
Zarah Sultana, Labour MP for Coventry South, said:
“Coventry has a proud history as a City of Sanctuary, welcoming people from across the world fleeing violence, persecution and poverty. This tradition continues through the excellent work these organisations do to support refugees and migrants in the city. I am delighted that with this funding, that work will continue.”
Caroline (CRMC AMIF Operations Manager) says:
“We’re very happy to have been awarded this European funding so that we can build on the brilliant work that has been carried out on the project so far, and continue to help our clients to rebuild their lives”.
